How does AI job matching work?
AI job matching reads a job posting and your CV, pulls out the skills and requirements each one contains, and scores how well they overlap. The score is a useful signal for where to focus, not a verdict on whether you can do the job.
Under the hood it is structured reading. The model extracts the must-have skills, tools, and experience from the posting, then checks how many of those appear, in context, in your CV. A good tool also tells you which keywords are missing, so the number turns into a to-do list rather than a grade.
The honest limits matter. A match score reads language, not your actual ability, so it can undercount transferable experience that you described in different words, or overcount a keyword you only mentioned in passing. Treat a low score as a prompt to rewrite for relevance, and a high score as a green light to apply, not a guarantee.
